The clients we get to work with and the opportunity to educate those outside the industry about trust services and their role in a comprehensive financial plan is what I find most rewarding. Seeing the changes over time and getting to know individual clients, their goals, families, and unique stories makes this work incredibly fulfilling.
My journey into the trust industry was quite unexpected. During a Super Bowl party, I received a call from an HR representative asking if I was interested in a position in the trust department. When I asked what the job entailed, she admitted she had no idea. Despite this, I went for the interview the next evening. After a two-hour discussion, I must have made a good impression because they offered me the job the following morning. I was fortunate to have three fantastic mentors who taught me about trust administration from the ground up, allowing me to grow and develop in the field.
Growing up on military bases in Germany and Aberdeen, MD, gave me a unique perspective on life. My father’s love for history allowed us to experience European culture and history firsthand. My parents felt we needed to embrace our surroundings, and these experiences shaped our lives. Living on a military base instilled in us a sense of respect and provided opportunities not seen every day.
My parents had a significant impact on my career, offering immense support and help with my daughter, Courtney, while I was at trust school and finishing my degree. My spouse, Luke, and daughter, Courtney, have been incredibly supportive, enduring long hours and independence. I couldn’t do what I do without their unwavering support.
